Pain is real, but so is hope.
Back in 2016, I published my first game on Itch.io (it isn't available anymore). It was called Massi vs. José, a simple yet hard platformer game with 40 levels, 8 worlds with 5 each. It was my first game made with Unity.
I was so excited to finally release a game I built from start to finish. 6 months later, the game had ~80 downloads. To be honest, I felt a bit disappointed but I started working on another game. This time, a 2.5D action platformer called Night Ninja. The game lived up to its name because it never saw the light of day.
From 2017 to 2018 I continued working on prototypes and small projects: top-down adventure, space shooter, pong clones, etc. I decided to try developing a game for Android, and I took a game I made before for Newgrounds called BallDog! (also, not available).
We* developed the game and released it on Google Play. It had game breaking bugs, performance issues and other details but it managed to get +100 downloads! The gameplay was pretty simple and there was a shop to buy upgrades and skins.
This year, I decided to improve the game and fix those issues that haunted us back in 2019. We released (again) BallDog! on the Play Store with an improved and responsive UI, Google Play Games integration, 100% offline mode (yes, it had issues while being played offline) and no microtransactions.
We're continuing its development, working on smaller bits and improving the overall game experience. It is a very simple game, but we built it from the ground up ourselves, learning on the go!
The game is available for download here.
After its development is finished, we're planning to release a version here, on Newgrounds.
I would love to go back and work on abandoned projects, like a full remake of Massi vs. José, which was in development in 2021. Here are some elements from that game:
I hope I can share details about our projects beyond BallDog! within the coming months!
"We" because my cousin helps me with my personal projects.
